Divination is roughly the attempt to foresee or influence past or future events. The practice is generally condemned in the Bible. Divination may come in the form of rhabdomancy (using sticks or arrows thrown into the air), hepatoscopy (using animal entrails), teraphim (using images of dead ancestors), necromancy (consultation with the dead), astrology (using stars and planets), hydromancy (using images in water), and lots (using chance results such as throwing of dice).
