One of the 12 disciples. John Boanerges was the brother of James the Apostle and son of Zebedee and Salome. He was known as the Beloved Disciple. John was a fisherman when Jesus called him to service. He wrote the Gospel of John, 1 John, 2 John, 3 John, and Revelation. John was ambitious with an explosive temper (he mellowed with age). He was banished to the isle of Patmos for his teachings.
